Wondering What’s Up?

It has been a whirlwind week and a half and I’m just catching my breath. Millions of business fail every year and Chesapeake Cigar & Tobacco Company is one of them. Our monthly rent obligation outstripped our income and we had no choice but to shutter the business as it existed in Edgewater. That’s the bad news.

The good news is that Jonathan and I have created a new entity — Chesapeake Pipe & Cigar LLC — and we have opened a “new” Chesapeake just a few miles down the road in Annapolis. Chesapeake Pipe & Cigar opens its doors on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 45 Old Solomons Island Road, Annapolis, MD 21401. This location is in the Sigma Business Center immediately behind Shoppers Food / Kohl’s off Route 2 in the Parole section of Annapolis.

While it’s a completely “new” Chesapeake, we will be honoring all outstanding gift certificates and special orders from the now defunct “old” Chesapeake out of courtesy to our loyal friends.

We are using this opportunity to restructure several facets of the business including discounting and pricing, making them much more straightforward and easy to use (and, in the case of prices, LOWER on most cigars.)

If you look at the name of the “new” Chesapeake, you will see the word “pipe” takes a front seat. The Annapolis area has a rich history surrounding tobacco going back to its earliest days. In the last year, both of the “go to” pipe businesses — The Smoke Shop and Faders — have closed their doors and left a void for the pipe smoking community. We hope that our added emphasis on pipes (real pipes, not those that look like something from a Grateful Dead concert) will fill that void as we figure out how to navigate the post FDA regulation world.

Again, our new address is:

Chesapeake Pipe & Cigar
45 Old Solomons Island Road, Suite 105
Annapolis, MD 21401
Phone: (443) 949-9004

We will be implementing a new website and new email addresses, but these will be monitored as well for a long time to come.

Come see the “new” Chesapeake starting 11/2/16 in Annapolis!
