As the name implies, the VLR (Villiger Limited Release) series is a collection of various limited edition cigars. The cigars within the series don’t share much in common with one another, a trend that continues with the two newest entries.
The VLR No. 049 is a 6 x 52 toro that uses an Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper over a Mexican San Andrés binder and fillers from Nicaragua. It is produced at Villiger de Nicaragua, the company’s factory in Nicaragua that is run with assistance from neighboring Joya de Nicaragua.
By contrast, the VLR No. 051 is made at ABAM Cigars S.R.L. in the Dominican Republic. It’s a 6 5/8 x 52 toro extra with a 109-style cap, a hybrid between the round cap of a normal robusto and the pointed tip of a belicoso. Blend-wise, it uses an Ecuadorian habano wrapper over a Dominican binder and Dominican fillers.
Production was limited to 400 10-count boxes of each VLR addition and we have them in-stock now.
